Nokia initiated lawsuit against HTC for their smartphone infringement. The Germany Court ruled that HTC devices found to have infringed Nokia’s patent registered in Germany. HTC, in response to the German court's ruling, said their mobile phone did not infringe on the patent claimed by Nokia, and the incident may have a minimal impact to the company’s sales.
Nokia recently launched patent infringement lawsuits against HTC across Europe, however, the British appellate court decided to suspend the injunction last week, so HTC One series resumes sales in the UK.
Across the Atlantic, Nokia accused HTC of having 9 kinds of mobile phones infringed on their patent in Germany. Munich District Court ruled eight HTC’s phones infringed upon Nokia’s EP1246071 patent.
HTC said the mobile phone being ruled as infringement are earlier products, such as HTC Sensation, HTC Wildfire and other older mobile phone launched one or two years ago. The key HTC One series is not involved.
